Terms of use

A structural template for the terms of use. The clauses that would actually bind either side are left unwritten on purpose, for counsel to draft.

On this page
  • [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME] and [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS] — the counterparty to these terms.
  • [OPERATING JURISDICTIONS] — where the site is published from and targeted at.
  • [MINIMUM AGE PER JURISDICTION] — 18 in most markets Floath covers, but counsel to confirm each rather than assume.
  • [LIABILITY AND WARRANTY POSITION] — to be drafted, not copied.
  • [INDEMNITY POSITION] — to be drafted, or deliberately omitted.
  • [GOVERNING LAW] and [FORUM FOR DISPUTES].
  • [CONSUMER RIGHTS CARVE-OUTS] — the mandatory rights that survive any clause below.
  • [LEGAL NOTICES EMAIL] — separate from the editorial inbox.
  • [EFFECTIVE DATE] and [VERSION].

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are between you and [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME] of [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS], the publisher of Floath. Counsel to set how acceptance is formed — continued use, or something more explicit — and to confirm that the chosen mechanism works in each of [OPERATING JURISDICTIONS].

2. What Floath is, and what it is not

Floath is an editorial comparison and discovery site. It publishes reviews, scores and structured product detail about online casinos so that a reader can compare them. Floath is not an operator: no gambling takes place on this site, there is no account to open, no wallet, no deposit and no bet. Every transaction happens on the operator's own site, under that operator's terms.

3. Eligibility and age

Floath is intended for adults who are legally permitted to gamble where they live. The minimum age is [MINIMUM AGE PER JURISDICTION]. Counsel to set the age statement per market and to confirm what, if anything, the site must do beyond stating it. The site itself does not verify age, because it has no accounts to verify — the check happens at the operator, at registration.

4. Unverified data and the accuracy of what you read

The operator records currently published on Floath are real brands whose operational data has not been verified. Where a figure has not been checked it is shown as 'Not verified' rather than estimated, and no brand carries a Floath Score. Nothing on this site should be relied on in place of the operator's own terms.

Counsel to draft the accuracy clause for the point at which real operator data replaces the demo set: bonus terms, minimum deposits and payout times change without notice, and the operator's own terms always govern. The trade-off to state honestly is that a comparison site is a snapshot — useful for narrowing a shortlist, never a substitute for reading the offer terms on the operator's site before depositing.

5. Commercial relationships

Some links to operators are commercial. Counsel to draft the contractual wording here and to keep it consistent with the affiliate disclosure page, which explains the arrangement in plain language for readers. Do not state a commission model, a rate, or which specific operators pay — that detail belongs in the disclosure page and only when it is true.

6. Acceptable use

  • Use the site for personal, non-commercial research.
  • Do not scrape, bulk-copy or republish the review text, scores or structured data. Counsel to set the boundary between a permitted quotation and a prohibited extraction.
  • Do not attempt to reach the admin area, interfere with the site, or probe it for weaknesses.
  • Do not use Floath to promote unlicensed gambling or to circumvent a self-exclusion scheme.
  • [ANY FURTHER RESTRICTIONS] — counsel to add, and to state the consequence of breach.

7. Intellectual property

The editorial text, the Floath Score methodology and the site design belong to [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME]. Operator names, regulator names, game studio names and payment brand names belong to their respective owners and appear here as reference and for identification only. Counsel to draft the ownership and permitted-use clauses, and to confirm the nominative-use position in each of [OPERATING JURISDICTIONS].

Operator links leave Floath. Once you have left, the destination site's terms and privacy policy apply and Floath has no control over what is offered there or how it behaves. Counsel to draft the third-party-link clause, including what happens when an operator changes an offer between our last review date and your click — the review page shows both the last-reviewed date and the offer terms so a reader can judge that for themselves.

9. Liability, warranties and indemnities

10. Responsible gambling

Gambling is entertainment that costs money. It is not an investment, not a source of income and not risk-free, and nothing published on Floath should be read as suggesting otherwise. The responsible gambling page lists real support organisations by jurisdiction and explains the self-service tools operators offer. Counsel to confirm whether any of [OPERATING JURISDICTIONS] imposes a mandatory notice, warning or signposting requirement on an affiliate or publisher, as distinct from an operator.

11. Changes to these terms

Counsel to set the change mechanism, the notice period for material changes, and whether continued use constitutes acceptance. The page records its last-edited and last-reviewed dates and the name of its owner, so a change is visible; the clause needs to say what that visibility means.

12. Governing law and disputes

Governed by [GOVERNING LAW], with disputes heard in [FORUM FOR DISPUTES], subject to any mandatory consumer rules that give a visitor the right to bring a claim where they live. Counsel to draft, and to state whether any pre-action or alternative dispute step applies. No specific court, scheme or ombudsman is named here, because naming the wrong one is worse than naming none.

13. Contact

Legal notices: [LEGAL NOTICES EMAIL], or in writing to [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS]. Corrections to a review, a score or a listing go to the editorial address on the contact page — those are handled as an editorial matter and do not need to go through counsel.
